Lived Experience Community of Practice

*** Applications to join the Lived Experience Community of Practice have now closed. ***

Thanks to the generous support of Aurora Energy, Hydro Tasmania and TasNetworks, TasCOSS is thrilled to announce we will facilitate an online Community of Practice (CoP) for lived experience advocates across Tasmania.

The CoP will run once a month for an initial six month block (six sessions total), starting in January 2024 and running through to June 2024 with a view to continuing the program in the second half of 2024, subject to funding. The CoP will be facilitated by Kerrie Dare, an experienced and skilled lived experience advocate and peer facilitator.

We’re looking for lived experience advocates who are involved in a lived experience program or who work independently. We can host up to 30 participants across two streams (capped at 15 participants per stream).

About the Lived Experience CoP:

The role and function of the Tasmanian Lived Experience CoP is to:

  • Create a monthly forum for participants to share knowledge and experiences relating to advocacy roles;
  • Provide a relaxed learning environment for people with a common practice across different lived experience backgrounds; and
  • Raise and discuss matters around lived experience advocacy work that can be used to improve how individuals and organisations engage with lived experience advocates.

Participants will receive a stipend of $250 (incl. GST) for attending six sessions, to be paid in two instalments.

Applications for the Lived Experience CoP will close at 5pm, Wednesday 17 January 2024.

If you have any questions about the Lived Experience CoP or would like further information, please contact Dr Charlie Burton, Manager Policy, on (03) 6231 0755 or via email. You can also express your interest in being part of the CoP by emailing Charlie directly.
