TasCOSS’s 2024/25 Budget Priorities Statement, Supporting Tasmanians in a Worsening Cost of Living Crisis, urges the Tasmanian Government to do what any good government should do: ensure the safety and wellbeing of the population. We make a number of evidence-based recommendations which, if enacted, would provide immediate cost of living relief to thousands of Tasmanian households, as well as put in place measures that would help to prevent more Tasmanians from struggling in the future. Based on our consultations with Tasmanians our proposals focus on issues they tell us are causing the most pain: housing, energy, food, health, transport, and digital access.

TasCOSS’s 2024/25 Budget Priorities Statement, Industry Sustainability: A Proposal for a Strong Community Services Industry to Keep Tasmanians Safe and Well, responds to the multiple challenges affecting Tasmanians and the industry that supports them. The COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, combined with the widescale reform required to safeguard and uphold the rights of adults and children, have illustrated the need for an industry-level response to ensure community services organisations are adequately resourced, and appropriately trained and governed. 

Energy is an essential service, fundamental to community, family and individual health and wellbeing. Clean energy is crucial for addressing climate change, powering our economy and making energy affordable for all.
