Please join us for the next installment of TasCOSS’s free, online Policy Conversations series where we will be joined by the Interim Commissioner for Children and Young People Tasmania, Isabelle Crompton, to unpack important legislation out for public consultation which aims to ‘increase system oversight and improve outcomes for Tasmanian children and young people.’
Establishing a Commission for Children and Young People was a key recommendation of the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings. To progress this commitment, the Tasmanian Government will be introducing the Commission for Children and Young People Bill 2024 which seeks to address to the scope, functions and powers of the new Commission, with significant changes such as establishing the new role of Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People.
Please join us in conversation with Interim Commissioner for Children and Young People Tasmania, Isabelle Crompton, to discuss how a new independent oversight body with expanded functions could improve the safety and wellbeing of Tasmanian children. You will also hear about how to be involved in the Tasmania’s Government’s current consultation on the draft Bill. There will be an opportunity to ask questions following the presentations.
