With consultation now open, this is a important opportunity for community service organisations and community members to have their say and inform the Government on how to best improve the systems that affect our health and support people in adopting healthier behaviours.

The Minister for Health, the Hon Jacquie Petrusma MP, has recently released a Discussion Paper inviting all Tasmanians to contribute to the development of a new 20 Year Preventive Health Strategy.

To improve Tasmania’s health outcomes, the Tasmanian Government is seeking to address the root causes of health issues and look at the systems that affect our health. This includes not just our health system, but areas like employment, education, transport, poverty, early childhood experiences, housing, planning, food security and social inclusion.

To learn more about this approach, read the Discussion Paper or make a submission, please visit the Department of Health website. Consultation closes on Sunday 25 May 2025.
