Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative (AMHC)

We are excited to welcome the AMHC team visiting from Canberra. Established to tackle long-standing health inequities faced by multicultural communities in Australia, AMHC provides a unified national voice for CALD health care consumers, carers, services, practitioners, and researchers. It offers expert policy advice to support health equity and inclusive public policy; serving as a mechanism for efficient consultation with government and stakeholders; acting as a knowledge hub for sharing expertise, resources, and publications. At the Expo they will be presenting a stall with information about Cervical Screenings.

Women’s Health Tasmania

Women’s Health Tasmania is a statewide health promotion charity focussed on women’s health. The organisation works to support people who identify as women or were assigned female at birth. Women’s Health Tasmania remained steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that all women have access to the information, services, and support they need to make choices about their own health.

Family Planning Tasmania

Family Planning Tasmania believes that human sexuality is an integral part of life. It is shaped by gender, and by social, political, spiritual and cultural factors, and is subject to lifelong dynamic change. Everyone has the right to live free of discrimination, regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, ethnic background, religion or ability. Family Planning Tasmania aims to provide sexual and reproductive health clinics and education services that are consistent with these beliefs and with commonly accepted principles of social justice.

Cancer Council Tasmania

Cancer Council Tasmania is a charity working to minimise the incidence and impact of cancer on all Tasmanians. Their vision is a cancer-free future, and every day across the country our federation is working towards that, helping to reduce the physical, emotional and financial burden of cancer on the lives of all Australians. Cancer Council Tasmania team will be sharing various cancer prevention resources, including those for preventing breast cancer and various gynaecological cancers.

Tasmanian Council on Aids, Hepatitis and Related Diseases (TasCAHRD)

TasCAHRD is the Tasmanian Council on Aids, Hepatitis and Related Diseases. Their mission is to educate the community on how to be safe from blood-borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections and reduce stigma. They will share the latest medical advances, dispel some myths, help find where to get tested in your area, access support for treatment, and help your community.

Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra)

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) and 15 National Boards work to ensure that Australia’s registered health practitioners are suitably trained, qualified and safe to practise. Public safety is the priority of Ahpra. Ahpra is a risk-based regulator, balancing the roles of protecting public safety and supporting a safe and professional health workforce for Australia.

Dr Marita Jones, GP

Currently working at the Lauderdale Medical Centre, Marita has a special interest in pregnancy care and women’s health, paediatrics and infant health, mental health, refugee care, preventative care and chronic diseases. Marita enjoys working in the full breadth of family medicine and providing holistic care to her patients. Marita is experienced in procedures for skin cancer medicine, contraceptive health including intrauterine devices (IUDs), and joint drainage and injections. Marita has experience working with newly arrived refugee families.

Tasmania Police

Tasmania Police is an operational arm of the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management. It is responsible for delivering quality policing services across Tasmania. At the Expo, the Tasmania Police stall aims to provide an inclusive and welcoming space for engagement with multicultural women and community members, while supporting the community to build positive relationships with Tasmania Police.

MAX Solutions

MAX Solutions RTO delivers language, literacy, numeracy, and digital training. Operating across Northern, North-Western, and Southern Tasmania, they specialise in workplace readiness and community integration.

Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner

The Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner is an independent body responsible for Tasmania’s anti-discrimination law. Its aim is to foster a society that is free of discrimination and harassment. The Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner protects everyone’s right to be treated fairly and to have the same opportunity as others to engage in public life and employment free from discrimination and harassment.

We are also thrilled to be catered by Bhakti Yoga Hobart, who will offer delicious Indian vegetarian meals for sale from 12.30 onwards.

We encourage families to attend, and we will set up a dedicated space for children at the Expo. Please watch our space as we will be announcing the panellists early next week.
