Continence Health Australia warmly invites Tasmanians who are dealing with incontinence or caring for someone who is to join us for a free community event.
Come along for morning tea and lunch and hear stories of hope and get helpful advice in a welcoming space. Continence Health Australia’s Consumer Advisory Committee members, Leanne Murphy and Alan White will share their stories. International obstetrician gynaecologist Dr Premitha Damodaran and local Tasmanian physiotherapist Emma Green will provide advice about getting help for continence health.
Dr Premitha Damodaran, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
Dr. Premitha is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Visiting Clinical Specialist at the University Malaya Medical Centre. Dr. Premitha’s research focuses on menopause and its impact in Malaysia.
Leanne Murphy, Counsellor | Children’s book author | Consumer | Advocate | Birth Trauma consultant
Leanne has been a member of Continence Health Australia’s Consumer Advisory Committee since 2024. Leanne suffered a catastrophic birth injury in 2011 which required six operations including an ileostomy bag, and later its reversal, and spent over 50 days in and out of hospital over that time. This injury resulted in her being faecally incontinent for many years.
Alan White, Men’s health advocate/ Author/ Prostate cancer survivor
Alan has been a member of Continence Health Australia’s Consumer Advisory Committee since 2020. Alan experienced continence issues after prostate cancer, for which he sought help. After making various lifestyle adjustments, today, his continence is good. He also runs the Bayside-Kingston prostate cancer support group with his wife Fiona.
Emma Green, Senior Physiotherapist, The Pelvic Studio, Hobart
Professional member of Continence Health Australia. Emma has a Post-Graduate Certificate in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation and is the chairperson of the Tasmania Branch of the Australian Physiotherapy Association Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health Group. Emma is a professional member of Continence Health Australia.
The speakers will answer questions in an open question and answer session as part of the event.
