The Launceston Benevolent Society is an emergency relief welfare charity operating in Launceston and the surrounding regions. First established in 1834, the Society is an independent, non-religious, non-profit organisation which has been supporting the Tasmanian community for over 188 years. The Society provides emergency support and assistance for people in need within the community. Our clients include the homeless, victims of family violence, struggling single parents and families suffering financial hardship. We provide food relief in the way of food hampers and food vouchers, fuel vouchers, bill relief, clothing, furniture, household goods, budget advice, advocacy, referral, support and case management through our social worker. We also support the homeless in Launceston through shower services and outreach services.
