The Royal Hobart Hospital Emergency Department has moved to a new entrance on Argyle Street, with changes to how patients and visitors access emergency care.
From 8am on Tuesday 15 September 2026, patients and visitors can only access the Royal Hobart Hospital Emergency Department via the new Argyle Street entrance, near the corner of Liverpool Street.
There is no longer public access to the Emergency Department from the Liverpool Street or Campbell Street entrances.
What to expect
- Changes to Argyle Street between Collins and Liverpool Streets provide a new ambulance zone and public drop-off area for the relocated Emergency Department entrance.
- The Emergency Department is only accessible via the Argyle Street entrance.
- Construction zones have been established on Liverpool and Argyle Streets while works continue.
Patients, visitors and community service organisations supporting people to access the hospital are encouraged to be aware of the new arrangements.
