Anglicare Tasmania has released its Housing Connect Front Door Service Quarterly Snapshot for June 2026, providing an overview of housing demand and service activity across the 2025/26 Financial Year.
Over the year, the Housing Connect Front Door responded to 52,273 enquiries, while around half of all support periods involved people who had experienced homelessness within the previous 12 months.
The report also found:
- Tasmania’s social housing register increased by 9.5% to 5,655 applications.
- Housing system indicators continued to deteriorate.
- Demand for housing and homelessness assistance remained significant.
The report calls on governments to expand housing supply and work towards increasing the rental vacancy rate to a target of 3%.
