Renowned author and journalist George Megalogenis, has opened the TasCOSS Conference 2025: Shaping our future together in Launceston with a insightful keynote address.
TasCOSS CEO, Ms Adrienne Picone, said the TasCOSS Conference 2025: Shaping our future together program shaped as a thought-provoking and insightful two days.
“The TasCOSS Conference will play host to more than 200 change agents from across one of the state’s largest and fastest growing industries — community services — to interrogate the urgent need for collective action to address complex social challenges, drive policy reform, and empower local communities,” Ms Picone said.
“George’s deep understanding of Australia’s economic and political history and his insights into the risks and opportunities for minority governments made for very topical presentation on how the landscape is changing, and how these shifts are being felt in Tasmania.
“It is time to rethink how politics is done, with major parties and political institutions out of favour with voters, and George has cleverly articulated where the opportunities for communities lie.
“George highlighted the importance of decision-making transparency in delivering a effective, collaborative Parliament.”
