Worker Assist Tasmania is seeking expressions of interest for an ordinary board member to join our Committee of Management. Worker Assist Tasmania is a community legal centre providing free, independent and confidential information, advice and support to injured workers across Tasmania.

This voluntary governance role is an opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of a specialist service that supports Tasmanian workers to understand their rights, navigate workers compensation and return-to-work issues, and access practical support during difficult times.

We would particularly welcome interest from people with skills or experience in:

  • governance, risk or compliance
  • finance, accounting or audit
  • legal practice, workers compensation or workplace relations
  • community services, health, advocacy or social justice
  • strategic planning, communications, fundraising or organisational development
  • lived experience relevant to injured workers, vulnerable workers or access to justice
  • strong connections with Tasmanian communities, including regional communities

Prior Board experience is welcome but not essential. We are looking for thoughtful, collaborative and values-driven people who are committed to access to justice, fairness, independence and respect.

Worker Assist Tasmania values diversity and inclusion, and encourages expressions of interest from people who bring diverse perspectives and community experience to governance.

To express interest, please send a short statement outlining your interest and the skills, experience or perspective you would bring, together with a completed nomination form, to help@workerassist.org.au by 25 August 2026.
