The Mental Health Council of Tasmania (MHCT) has launched Whatever the Weather, a new statewide pilot project designed to help young Tasmanians better understand their mental health needs and know when and where to start looking for support. MHCT is now seeking GP clinics and mental health practitioners to help adopt and embed the language in practice.
Whatever the Weather has been shaped through consultation and co-design with young people, parents, carers, service providers and other stakeholders. It responds to feedback from young people that mental health information can feel confusing, clinical and difficult to navigate.
Using the familiar idea of changing weather, Whatever the Weather creates a simple shared language around mental health, making it easier for young people, families, trusted adults and practitioners to talk about what is going on and what supports may be appropriate.
