As announced by the Minister for Social Services, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, on 23 October 2025, the Department is proposing to bring together five existing programs into a single national program to support children and families. The reform aims to reduce administrative burden, improve flexibility, and focus on meaningful outcomes-based reporting.
The new program will include three streams:
- National programs and information services
- Prevention and early intervention
- Intensive family supports
Your organisation plays a critical role in shaping policy and advocating for sector reform. We welcome your insights on how government can work more effectively with the community sector, including through relational contracting and improved data sharing.

Consultation opportunities

- Tailored online sessions:
• First Nations organisations – for services predominantly supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Regional and remote organisations – for services delivered outside capital cities
