Summer’s here, and while some of us can escape the heat, far too many people in our community are trapped in homes that feel like ovens, climate change is making heatwaves worse with no relief in sight. That’s why it’s as important as ever to have your say. Take our Heat in Homes Survey now and help us keep building the case for change.
Last year, you helped us shine a light on this crisis. Our Heat in Homes Report showed that 87% of people surveyed said their homes get too hot, and 54% struggled to cool them.
Your voices in recent years have helped push the Federal Government to invest $800 million to co-fund $1.1 billion in partnership with state and territory governments, for energy-efficient, electric and solar upgrades to 25% of social housing properties with energy-efficient, electric and solar upgrades. That’s a real win, and you made it happen.
But we can’t stop there.
Earlier this year, the government released the National Climate Risk Assessment, painting an alarming picture of the threats facing communities across the country.
This is why we can’t lose momentum. There are still far too many people forced to live in hot homes, struggling with energy bills they can’t afford. We need to keep building the case for more government investment to protect people from extreme heat.
That’s where you come in.
We’ve launched our Heat in Homes Survey for 2026, and we need your voice. Can you take 10 minutes to share your experience of dealing with summer heat in your home?
The results will help us push the government to:
- Accelerate home energy upgrades for renters, First Nations communities and people on low incomes
- Upgrade and retrofit all social housing by 2030
- Invest in local community-led climate resilience hubs
- Strengthen the community sector’s capacity in climate and disaster response
All personal information and comments you share will be kept confidential by our organisations unless you explicitly give us permission to share them.
Thank you for continuing to stand with us. Your story matters, and together we can push for more energy efficient homes that protect people, not put them at risk.
