Since 2020, the Great Regional City Challenge has provided over $500,000 in cash and support to 32 different projects. Our vision is that the Launceston community can help make Launceston one of the great regional cities of the world; a city that is appealing, friendly, prosperous and accessible.
Since 2020 the Great Regional City Challenge has provided over $500,000 in cash and support to 32 different projects.
Funded projects will get underway from 1 July 2025 continuing through to June 20, 2026. The themes for The Great Regional City Challenge 2024/2025 funding are:
People and Place: Launceston is full of healthy and happy people that are connected through a place that reflects and encourages their creativity and individuality. Projects:

Diverse and Inclusive: Launceston supports and celebrates its diverse and inclusive community/s where everyone is connected, valued and empowered. Projects:

Community food initiatives, including crossovers eg sport, art, culture

First Nations justice

Access to decision making, to all buildings/spaces, awareness, travel/utility, walking

Belonging – homelessness, cost of living, access to facilities, access to third spaces

Education – awareness and understanding of Diversity and Inclusiveness (D & I) issues and opportunities. Support within the school system for all students eg non-English speaking

Safety – feeling welcome, free from violence, abuse and discrimination
