After receiving member concerns about the 2026/27 Pre-Budget Consultation timeline and Treasury’s online budget submission form, TasCOSS raised these issues directly with Treasurer Abetz and Minister Ogilvie.
Following our request for an extension, the Treasurer’s office has confirmed that the submission deadline will be extended to Sunday 7 December 2025.
If you continue to have concerns around the ability to engage meaningfully in the pre-budget consultation process due to the early timeline, we strongly encourage you to email Treasurer Abetz and his senior advisor directly. Please also cc myself or a TasCOSS team member into this email if we can provide support or assistance.
With regards to the submission form and process, TasCOSS will approach this by using the online submission form to summarise our budget priority statement (BPS) asks and attach our full BPS as supporting material. Treasury has confirmed that organisations are not required to complete every question in the form.
This approach will ensure that your key priorities are clearly captured within the consultation framework, while allowing you to provide additional context, evidence and detail through your full BPS.
As always, TasCOSS is here to support members throughout the budget process. If you have any questions, please contact a member of the TasCOSS team.
Minister Ogilvie suggested TasCOSS Members can also contact her senior advisor Rosita Gallasch for assistance in developing and framing BPS documents.
For more information, please head to the Department of Treasury and Finance website.
