The Budget includes some small pockets of funding specifically allocated to new mental health and wellbeing initiatives, including a welcome recognition of the value of lived experience to the mental health hand alcohol and other drugs sectors through funding for initiatives like a Lived Experience Training and Development Hub.
However, the majority of new funding announced is grouped together under broad reform categories, including suicide prevention, with the breakdown of exactly how that funding will be allocated at this stage unclear. Mental Health Council of Tasmania (MHCT) will be seeking detail from the Government on how they plan to invest this funding over the coming weeks.
