Working Together Early Learning Initiative

TasCOSS continues to work as a partner on the Department of Education Working Together early learning initiative.

The Working Together team are keenly aware that the extraordinary measures that have been taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 present an unprecedented challenge for early childhood education and care providers as well as the communities they serve. The Working Together core team is supporting families and service partners through maintaining contact to understand and support changes that need to happen.

Since mid-February, children have been enrolling into Working Together at a steady pace. 81 of the 120 places were filled as of 23 March. However, the COVID-19 restrictions and general uncertainty have seen many enrolments pause over the last few weeks.

In the current environment, the focus has shifted to supporting the children and families who are currently enrolled and continuing pre-enrolment communication with referred families. Until social distancing measures are eased, few children are likely to commence placements in early learning centres. Working Together is working with early learning centres to adapt to the rapidly unfolding situation.
