Hospice Volunteers South is currently recruiting new volunteers across all of our areas of operation.

We have 3 main programs and are interested in harnessing the talents and skills of our passionate volunteers to build our program.

Training for new Volunteers will take place on Fridays in September and, like all of our service,  is comlpletely free of charge. Volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.

Community Volunteers: Our volunteers provide weekly companionship support to people living with a life-limiting condition, to enable them to continue to enjoy life. This can include getting out for a coffee, taking part in community events and groups, reminiscing, legacy activities etc. Volunteers are matched 1:1 and typically support their community companion for 2hrs per week.

Walking Through Grief groups: Volunteers organise and support a short weekly walk, in the local area, followed by a cafe get together, to support bereaved family members.

Hospital Volunteers: Our Volunteers work alongside ward staff, to visit patients in end of life care. We provide a listening ear, companionship and help patients with legacy activities. Our Volunteers work closely with the Palliative Care team to support bereaved families following the death of a loved one.
