Following on from the Australian Government’s “Gonski 2.0” package, the Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools was announced in the federal Budget 2017-18, to be chaired by David Gonski AC.  The intent of the review is to identify practice and policy to support students in schools, including vulnerable and disadvantaged students—though the review will not be reconsidering the overall level of funding provided by the Commonwealth to schools.

TasCOSS is preparing a submission and is seeking your input via a teleconference Tuesday, 24 October at 2PM.

We’d like to hear about:

  • innovative practice in education in Tasmania, from the early years through to post-school transitions
  • where the needs of Tasmania’s children and young people are still unmet by early learning and by schools.

It’s particularly important that Tasmania’s views are presented to the review, because of our particular challenges of educational disadvantage and a dispersed population.

You can also join us in person. We’d love to see you. Send us an email so we know to expect you and come to TasCOSS, Level 3, 86 Murray St, Hobart, for a 2pm start on 24 October.

TasCOSS also encourages your organisation to make individual submissions to this process. We are happy to support you to prepare a submission.
