“A strengths-based approach to care, support and inclusion says let’s look first at what people can do with their skills and their resources and what can the people around them do in their relationships and their communities. People need to be seen as more than just their care needs — they need to be experts and in charge of their own lives.” — Alex Fox, Chief Executive Officer, Shared Lives Plus

A strengths-based approach recognises that every person has strengths. By focussing on their strengths, you can empower the consumer to identify solutions which build their individual capacity.

Join us for this practical workshop which will cover:

  • What strengths-based practice is and why it is important to the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) sector,
  • How to talk about strengths-based practice without using confusing language,
  • Conversations to explore how to work in a strengths-based way; and
  • Resources, practice examples and information that you can take back to your team.

These workshops are designed for employees who work for and with CHSP funded services and organisations. The aim of the workshops is to support CHSP providers access online training to develop their knowledge and skills, and to strengthen their Wellness and Reablement practice.

The workshops will be held over two weeks (2 x 90-minute online workshops). You will need to commit to attend both workshops as well as complete the set workbook activity. Please register for Option A or Option B depending on your availability. If you are new to online learning, we will support you.

You can join the group remotely using Zoom Video Conferencing. Details on how to join the Zoom Video Conferencing sessions will be distributed closer to the date. Please refer to the guide on how to join and participate in a TasCOSS training session online using Zoom for more information.
