Join our upcoming online Policy Conversation to discuss the need for a Tasmanian charter of rights, the Alliance for a Tasmanian Human Rights Act and the upcoming rally on Saturday 26 November 2022.

Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Commissioner, Sarah Bolt, will introduce the campaign and moderate a discussion between Yvette Cehtel (Women’s Legal Service Tasmania) and Daney Faddoul (Human Rights Law Centre).

Yvette will speak to the Tasmanian experience and outline current legal and social issues which may be impacted with the introduction of human rights legislation, and Daney will outline how other jurisdictions have used human rights instruments to successfully defend and promote human rights. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers.

TasCOSS is part of a coalition of Tasmanian civil society organisations who have formed an alliance in support of a Tasmanian Human Rights Act. The Policy Conversation is an opportunity to raise awareness of the work of the alliance and the ways in which we believe human rights laws would benefit our community.
