Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Elise Archer said:
“Making sure that Tasmania’s privacy laws and regulations are modern, comprehensive, and properly protect Tasmanians’ privacy is of paramount importance”.
“I encourage the community and stakeholders to actively engage with the TLRI’s Issues Paper and to make submissions to the TLRI on an important issue that affects us all.
“Community and stakeholder feedback will assist the TLRI to consider benefits and limitations to any proposed reforms.”
The Rockliff Liberal Government is committed to ensuring that Tasmania’s privacy laws are contemporary and properly protect Tasmanians.
The Commonwealth Government published its review of the Commonwealth Privacy Act in February 2023. The TLRI’s work will complement, not substitute, the Commonwealth’s work on privacy laws.
