The Link Youth Health Service Inc. has received requests from young people and youth services to host a forum to educate young people about the upcoming federal election and specifically youth health policy issues.
The Link Youth Health Service are working with the youth reference group, Sandy Killick from Democracy Matters Team 1 and City of Hobart’s youth reference group to support young people and the youth sector by:
- Providing a free How to Make your Vote Count session at the Ballroom, Town Hall, City of Hobart on Thursday 5th of May between 1.15 – 2.25 pm. This is a free event targeting young people and their supporters (family, friends, youth workers, teachers, etc) about the voting process and how a federal election works.
- providing two free online one hour train the trainer sessions 26th and 27th of April for people who work with young people or parents about how the federal election process works and what young people need to know about voting.
The Link Youth Health Service and City of Hobart have asked their Youth Reference Groups to be part of the session and to nominate several youth health issues that are important to them. If candidates are not able to attend the session on 5th of May, we will read out their brief written responses during the event.
Each Candidate in attendance will be allocated 3 minutes on each question. If there is time available at the end there may be some questions permitted from the floor.
All candidates in the Division of Clark at the time of writing have been invited to participate.
A light lunch will be provided and all participants need to be covid vaccinated.
