Did you hear the one about how Peter Brock ran out of fuel on a 2km stage of Targa?

You will hear this tale and many more when you join us for this exciting event featuring a conversation between Becher Townshend, Managing Director of Font and award-winning state political reporter, and Stuart Benson of Auto Corsa, Tasmania’s own Motorsport Event Director.

Stuart has more than 15 years’ experience delivering highly successful international and local events, including the world-renowned Targa Tasmania.

This event is a “green light” for motorsport enthusiasts and those wanting to gain insight into what it takes to lead a team in designing, creating, managing and delivering highly successful events.
Targa Tasmania is a world class international motorsport event now in its 26th year. This famed tarmac rally generates $10 million annually for the Tasmanian economy, with up to 300 selected cars travelling more than 2000kms over 40 competitive stages through our State’s twisting, turning and surprising roads.

Events like Targa are the perfect example of where Leadership Matters, as planning and management for this type of ‘high risk’ event is of vital importance to ensure the safety of volunteers, spectators and competitors. In addition to behind-the-scenes glimpses, we’ll also hear from Stuart about what it takes to manage key components of high profile events, how to lead and manage volunteers and race competitors, and insights on how to work effectively with local councils and Government departments.
