In order to address rough sleeping and the housing crisis in Hobart, The Salvation Army Tasmania and Hobart City Mission have started a pilot program called Safe Night Space.
The aim of the Safe Night Space is to provide a welcoming, safe and inclusive overnight place for men and women to go who are vulnerable, isolated and homeless in the City of Hobart.
$175,000 has been raised through donations. In addition, Housing and Human Services Minister Roger Jaensch announced that the State Government will contribute $150,000 for the program.
$125,000 is still needed to make Safe Night Space a reality. If you would like to make a donation towards the program or find out more, please visit hobartcitymission.org.au/safe-night-space/ or call (03) 6215 4200.
