This role is responsible for the delivery of counselling and related support to clients eligible for support under the Program of Assistance for Survivors of Torture and Trauma (PASTT). The position services clients who have entered Australia recently (including asylum seekers) as well as those who have resided longer.
The counsellor provides a holistic range of services including short, medium and long-term culturally appropriate counselling, group work and community development. The counsellor will develop cooperative working relationships with other program areas within Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania (MRC Tas) and other associated service providers and communities.

The Phoenix Centre is a program area within MRC Tas. It provides assistance to people from a refugee and migrant background, particularly those who have experienced torture or been traumatised as a result of persecution, violence, war or unlawful imprisonment prior to arrival in Australia.
