Mental Health Families and Friends Tasmania Inc

Mental Health Families and Friends Tasmania offers statewide peer support sessions for families and friends who support a person with mental ill health.

As a support person of someone with mental ill health, it’s important to take a break and spend some time talking to people who understand what you’re going through. Our online and face-to-face Safe Space chats provide an opportunity to share how you are feeling with others who understand the ups and downs of being a family member or friend of someone affected by a mental illness.

Each session we will look at a particular topic that can prove challenging as a support person: handling conflict, having tough conversations, managing grief, understanding suicidality, and others (topics are determined by your feedback).

Our chats are open to anyone over the age of 18 living in Tasmania and supporting a person with mental health.

Face-to-Face Safe Spaces run from 5pm-6:30pm every month in Hobart, St Helens, Launceston and Burnie.

Online Safe Spaces run from 6:30pm-7:30pm every fortnight.
