Carers Tasmania are offering a two day FREE workshop for family carers on Wednesday, 27 June and Thursday, 28 June from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Are you a carer? Carers are people who provide unpaid support and care for family or friends who are living with a disability or chronic condition, a mental illness or terminal illness, an addiction or who are frail aged.

Learn skills and gain confidence to self-care your own mental health and also be aware of the mental health for your friends and family.

Mental health first aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until the appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.  Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.

Course topics cover: Developing mental health problems, depression, anxiety problems, psychosis and substance use problems, as well as suicide and other mental health crises.

A light lunch will be provided.

To register contact Carers Tasmania on 1800 242 636 or email intake@carerstasmania.org
