The Making Inclusion Stick project, an initiative of Working It Out, involves getting more services listed on SignPost. SignPost is an online and mobile app directory that lists businesses and services in Tasmania that are LGBTI friendly.

The purpose of having this directory is so that LBGTI people can know which places are safe, inclusive and friendly when they seek out services. There are six categories these services can list themselves under. These are ‘Advocacy & Allies’, ‘Education & Training’, ‘Health & Wellbeing’, ‘Professional Services’, ‘Social Groups’ and ‘Retail’.

Businesses and services that are listed will be sent a rainbow sticker indicating to those accessing their services that they have listed themselves and want to be seen visibly as LGBTI friendly. So far we have received support from Clarence, Hobart and Launceston City councils to carry out the project.

Are you a service provider that is interested in becoming listed on SignPost as LGBTI inclusive? Or someone who uses a service that you think would be interested? Let us know sending an email to signpost@workingitout.org.au.
