Last year, Working It Out received some funding from the Pride Foundation and the Sidney Myer Fund to develop a training package for LGBTIQ+ inclusivity in the disability support sector in Tasmania. We are writing to tell you about this training because you may be supporting people with disability.
According to recent research (Private Lives 3, 2020) of LGBTIQ+ people, almost 38.5% (4 in 10) have a disability, versus 17.7% of the general population in Australia. It is a strong certainty that your staff will, at some stage, be supporting someone from the LGBTIQ+ community. This training will enable your staff (and your organisation), to be well informed and practice in accordance with Anti-Discrimination legislation in Tasmania.
We are excited to let you know that this training package is now available to people working with people with disability in Tasmania. This training package enables your staff (and management) to learn how to be more LGBTIQ+ inclusive and put their knowledge into practice in their work.
What is also great is, the training is FREE OF CHARGE.
What does it entail?
It consists of an online training module which is then followed up by an interactive Zoom webinar to consolidate learning from the module and to allow an open discussion/question session to further reinforce their practice. The online training module takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and can be done at any time of the day (or night).
How to register to attend:
|Step 1:Register for webinar||Register for a Zoom webinar for one of these dates: Wed 23 Jun, 2021 (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) Mon 19 Jul, 2021 (6:30 – 8:30 pm) Mon 16 Aug, 2021 (2:00 – 4:00 pm) Wed 15 Sept, 2021 (11:00 am – 1:00 pm) Click here to register.|
|Step 2:Complete online training||Once you register for a webinar you will receive an email confirmation of your registration within 5 working days. We have allowed 2 weeks so it gives you ample time to complete, but also it keeps it fresh in your mind when attending the webinar.|
Upon completion of both the training module and attending a webinar you will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the training.
