LGBTIQ+ Inclusivity Training for the Disability Sector

23 June 2021

Last year, Working It Out received some funding from the Pride Foundation and the Sidney Myer Fund to develop a training package for LGBTIQ+ inclusivity in the disability support sector in Tasmania.   We are writing to tell you about this training because you may be supporting people with disability.

According to recent research (Private Lives 3, 2020) of LGBTIQ+ people, almost 38.5% (4 in 10) have a disability, versus 17.7% of the general population in Australia.   It is a strong certainty that your staff will, at some stage, be supporting someone from the LGBTIQ+ community. This training will enable your staff (and your organisation), to be well informed and practice in accordance with Anti-Discrimination legislation in Tasmania.

We are excited to let you know that this training package is now available to people working with people with disability in Tasmania.    This training package enables your staff (and management) to learn how to be more LGBTIQ+ inclusive and put their knowledge into practice in their work.

What is also great is, the training is FREE OF CHARGE.

    What does it entail?

It consists of an online training module which is then followed up by an interactive Zoom webinar to consolidate learning from the module and to allow an open discussion/question session to further reinforce their practice.  The online training module takes approximately 45 minutes to complete and can be done at any time of the day (or night).
