The majority of sexually abusive behaviour involving children is carried out by people within the child’s circle of family and friends. Reports of abuse being carried out by other children and young people is on the increase, creating new challenges for those working with children. In this workshop we will describe the building blocks of effective communication skills integral to the development of protective behaviours. Topics also look at responding to disclosures via a trauma informed lens and build an understanding of problem sexual behaviours and sexually abusive behaviours.
