The Tasmanian Government invites your organisation to join this year’s White Ribbon Walk, which sees state servants, Members of Parliament, community organisations, business, schools and individuals to walk in support of the elimination of family violence. This is a public demonstration of the Tasmanian State Service’s stand against family violence.
This walk is also in recognition of the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women’ (25 November), which is part of a broader 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence that aims to raise public awareness and mobilise people everywhere to bring about change to end violence against women.
Share the Dignity will speak at this year’s event about their campaign #itsinthebag. Participants are encouraged to bring along an item – personal hygiene products and everyday luxuries – to donate to #itsinthebag. Your items will be distributed to homeless women, women at risk or women experiencing family violence.
If you or someone you know is impacted by family violence you can call the Family Violence Response and Referral Line on 1800 633 937 (Tasmania Police) or visit www.1800respect.org.au
