The collective action of women has seen major improvements for our rights in Australia – from winning the vote to achieving equal pay and implementing anti-discrimination laws.
But there is more work to be done. Women still face specific challenges in health care, housing, and the workplace (to name a few). Inequality, the gender pay gap and family and domestic violence all hold women back.
We can do better. But its going to take all of us working together.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day in 2020, let’s raise our voices for gender equality in Tasmania. We would like to invite you to attend the International Women’s Day March to be held at Franklin Square, 12:15 – 1:00pm on Monday, 2 March 2020.
Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner, AC, Governor of Tasmania; Jessica Munday, Secretary, Unions Tasmania; Natalie Hocking, Family & Domestic Violence Survivor; and Deanne Lance, Housing Sector Worker will be addressing speeches, followed by a brief march and BBQ in Franklin Square.
