SHE (Support Help & Empowerment) are running a workshop on Family Violence: Beyond the obvious, revealing coercive control and why you need to know
about it.

This workshop is suitable for people working in health and human services and promotes a nuanced understanding of family violence beyond legal definitions and overtly abusive behaviours. Most family violence is not recognised as “violent” which acts as a barrier for people who are experiencing abuse, to seek help and intervention.

The workshop aims to;

  • Increase knowledge of the complex nature of family violence and abuse.
  • Understand what coercive control is and why it is hard to recognise.
  • Address social tolerance towards family abuse.
