Hobart City has funded a collaborative and community artist program at the LongHouse, supported by Nayri Niara.

The aims of the program are to provide a space that encourages connection-building across communities and between individuals of varying experience levels and backgrounds. To help build the practical skills and confidence involved with being a professional artist and to share the love with the broader nipaluna/Hobart community.

Program skeleton:

  • First phase (one month – time TBC): connect and create. Two artists develop an exhibition together with support from Nayri Niara. They also participate in workshops based on connection-building as well as professional development.
  • Second phase: share. The two artists exhibit their artworks for one month to the public.
  • They share the meanings and experiences behind their exhibition with an artist talk and dinner.
  • They can sell their artworks with Nayri Niara taking a small portion of sales (15%)
