27 November 2020
25 November marks the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the beginning of 16 Days of Activism.
To coincide with this, from 25 November to 10 December, Our Watch will be promoting: the Doing Nothing Does Harm campaign and the message Do Something: 16 Days in 16 Ways. The message focuses on how to ‘do something’ online. Highlighting sexism and disrespect that happens online (e.g. on social media, in the comment section of an online article or in a group chat) and providing examples on how to ‘do something’ online (dislike the comment, direct message someone to show your support or reply in a group chat and call out disrespectful behaviour).
To promote the campaign and help share the message, Our Watch has put together a toolkit for our stakeholders.
The toolkit includes:
- A brief summary of the 16 Days of Activism campaign.
- An overview of Our Watch’s Doing Nothing Does Harm campaign and the Do Something: 16 Days, 16 Ways theme.
- Social media calendar with suggested posts and key messages.
- Guidance on community moderation, backlash and disclosures on social media.
All the videos and images you can use to support the Do Something: 16 Days, 16 Ways campaign are available to download from the Doing Nothing Does Harm website.
