Practitioners are faced with many unique challenges in the mental health and alcohol and other drug sector. They work with complex presentations and hear personal histories that invariably impact on the practitioner’s own wellbeing. Balancing personal wellbeing with effective treatment can be a significant challenge.

This ATDC Members Only workshop introduces strategies to identify, monitor and address these challenges, as well as an overview of some boundary related issues which can occur when working with these clients.

Workshop facilitator Grant Blake is a Clinical Psychologist at ForensiClinic Consulting and a PhD researcher at the Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science. Grant works with clients experiencing a variety of clinical and forensic issues. His special interests are in trauma, sexual and non-sexual violence, offending behaviours, and personality disorders.

TasCOSS acknowledges that we live and work on Aboriginal land, land of the palawa/pakana people of lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, to elders past and present, and to the emerging leaders who continue the work of caring for country and fighting for rights and recognition. | Copyright Tasmanian Council of Social Service 2021
