Does your organisation support people from a CALD background? Do you want to increase your understanding of, and ability to respond to, the needs of people and cultural groups? Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania (MRC Tas) is pleased to be launching a new 6-month training and mentoring program to support services to engage with people from multicultural backgrounds.

Program Overview:
Full day Training

Cultural Awareness, Cultural Competency, Use of Interpreters, Intercultural Communication, Impact of Migration and Settlement, Mental Health, and Supporting People from a Torture and Trauma Background. Materials and resources will be provided. This course will run from late June to December.

Community of Practice
Online: 6 two-hour Community of Practice online sessions will be held in July. Hosted by experienced MRC Tas staff and bicultural workers from different countries of origin. Sessions will be guided by the needs of Champions
and include monthly topics and guest speakers from CALD community groups, with the chance for Champions to raise specific issues or seek solutions to challenges.

Mentoring
In July, your champion/s will be matched with a mentor, who can also engage bicultural workers as needed. Mentors will provide a 3-hour structured session at your service, helping to identify areas where you can strengthen your practice. They will also support you to develop and implement an Action plan and provide follow up as required.

If this program is of interest to you, please lodge an Expressions of Interest, nominating one person from your service to be your CALD Agency Champion.

Expressions of Interest close on Tuesday, 8 June.
