This report from the UTAS Institute for the Study of Social Change discusses Tasmania’s future age care workforce. More than 5000 new healthcare and social assistance workers are required by 2022, with aged care a major component of this need. Higher wages, improved recognition of the value of caring work, stigma reduction, and greater respect for the ageing and aged care workforce are nominated as changes to help meet Tasmania’s future needs.
