2020/21 TasCOSS Budget Priorities Statement (Community Services Industry Joined Up recovery Proposal)

Tasmania’s community services industry is resilient, innovative and dynamic. We provide support to people and their communities in all corners of the state. We are an industry comprising hundreds of individuals and organisations that reinvest their knowledge and experience back into the state and its people every day.

In 2018, the State Government recognised the contribution the industry makes to the Tasmanian economy and to the wellbeing of Tasmanian people and communities by committing funding for a comprehensive Community Services Industry Plan to ensure the industry continues to grow and remains strong and sustainable into the future.

The Industry Plan has been developed in a partnership between the Tasmanian community services industry and the State Government and reflects a joint commitment to building an integrated and responsive service system that better tackles disadvantage and enables opportunities for all Tasmanians.

The Industry Plan establishes a clear and strong vision that will recognise community services as a leading industry in Tasmania and for its social and economic contribution to ensuring all Tasmanians have the opportunity to live a good life.

The strong history of collaboration and partnerships between community services industry organisations and governments in Tasmania is one of the main principles underpinning the Industry Plan. Strong partnerships are critical to achieving the Industry Plan’s goals and to maximising outcomes for Tasmanians and their communities.

This Budget Priorities Statement presents a joined up recovery proposal for the community services industry.
