Human Rights

Human rights sit at the heart of TasCOSS’ vision of a fair, just and inclusive Tasmania. We believe that every Tasmanian should enjoy the rights laid out in both the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, to both of which Australia is a party. We believe that particular work is necessary to ensure that disadvantaged and vulnerable Tasmanians are able to enjoy the right to non-discrimination and minority rights; procedural fairness in law; work and just conditions of work; adequate food, clothing and housing; the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health; education; and environmental protection and sustainability.
