Social exclusion and political disengagement drive and consolidate each other. By the same token, good governance—ensuring that the process of decision-making, and the process by which decisions are (or are not) implemented are transparent, accountable, efficient, participatory, equitable, responsive, and law-abiding—is crucial to overcoming political disengagement, and to ensuring that all Tasmanians have a say in the state’s political systems and processes and their outcomes. TasCOSS advocates for best-practice early engagement, consultation, monitoring, evaluation and review processes for all State and local government policies and programs. We also promote joined-up thinking across all agencies and levels of government to deliver the best possible social inclusion outcomes.
