Sector-wide Planning

The community services sector is subject to constant change driven by a range of imperatives including legislation, contractual arrangements, competition and increasing demand for services. Some of the emerging trends that will impact significantly on the operations and sustainability of community sector organisations are:

• Consumer-directed care and individualised budgeting changes the focus from grant-based organisational funding models to client-led service purchasing.

• The move towards collaborative and integrated service delivery, demands cross-sector partnerships to achieve outcomes for our communities.

• Increased service demand coupled with increased core running costs and compliance requirements strain the resources of many community service organisations.

• Cross-community sector workforce skills challenges.

TasCOSS takes a lead in ensuring our sector has both the strategic plans to anticipate and address these trends, as well as leading the skill development and networks to ensure our sector is meeting these changes effectively.
